This 1400+ word essay is about the investigative project, Seek And You Will Find: The Search for the Five Women of Grace Baptist Church. The essay went viral on Twitter (18.2k+ likes, comments and retweets), was spotlighted by NYT National and NY verticals, and was chosen as “Editors’ Pick” on the homepage of The New York Times website. The essay can be found here.

This piece explores the delicate and difficult experience of being Black, gay and Christian using the life stories of a Black lesbian minister and her congregation.

For the book Moving Still, Rachel wrote “Revolution Road”, a story about the life and death of Ferguson activist, Darren Seals. She also worked as the copyeditor.

Blind Plea

Rachel was a Narrative Producer on Blind Plea, an original podcast series hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Liz Flock. Rachel produced, edited, and wrote episodes. She also hosts bonus content for Apple Premium subscribers. The show went #1 on Apple Podcasts and took the true crime space by storm in May 2023.

Rachel was a scriptwriter and producer on season four of TCM’s award-winning podcast, The Plot Thickens, which follows the icon, legend, and Hollywood’s first action hero herself: Pam Grier. The season won both Best Editing and Best Television + Film Podcast categories at the Signal Awards in 2022 and was an honoree for the 2023 Webby Awards.

Rachel was a producer on this rich, personal story from Richard Stengel, the ghostwriter for former South African President Nelson Mandela’s groundbreaking memoir A Long Walk to Freedom, released December 2022.

Rachel was a Story Editor on the third season of No One is Coming to Save Us, an original podcast series hosted by veteran reporter Gloria Riviera. Rachel edited episodes with intense sensitivity to the unhoused population, immigrant families, and young mothers while advocating for episodes with practical solutions and next steps for listeners.
